imageHOLDERS work with ATS Heritage on Tablet Kiosks for Winchester Museum

imageHOLDERS have successfully installed iPad tablet kiosks with ATS Heritage for a new museum refurbishment.

The tablet kiosks are installed next to an exhibition displaying a 5-metre display model of Winchester. The iPad kiosks support the display as part of the interpretation, encouraging visitors to find out more about the history of Winchester.

ATS Heritage is an experienced producer of audio guides, multimedia guides, smartphone and tablet apps for Museums, Galleries and Heritage sites throughout the UK and are leaders in multimedia guides and tours. ATS Heritage approached imageHOLDERS to securely enclose an iPad Air 2 which would be on an angled mount.

The tablet kiosks are mounted on the wall of the display, using a counter mounted arm to provide the angle required for visitors to interact with the information.

Spencer Clark, Director, ATS Heritage said: “ATS Heritage are always looking for new ways to encourage visitor interaction and we are starting to explore a new avenue with kiosks. The use of tablet technology creates a user interface which allows for continuity and provides accurate information which is able to constantly update and change. The solution is cheaper than print to update and provides 24/7 information which volunteers or guides cannot always provide. It’s a dream to work with imageHOLDERS. I have known Peter Thompson and imageHOLDERS for while and know them to be reliable, responsive and timely. They provide quick turnarounds and great secure products.”

Peter Thompson, Director, imageHOLDERS said: “It’s always a pleasure to work with Spencer Clark and his team at ATS Heritage. They understand how best to utilise technology to encourage guest interaction and we at imageHOLDERS enjoy the challenges the exhibition displays provide. The tablet kiosks are really solid and reliable which is essential to have within museums and heritage sites. The sites see a high level of footfall and our Shell tablet kiosks are built just for this purpose.”

imageHOLDERS tablet kiosks provide a solution which replaces hard copy information in the form of laminated information documents, or volunteers attendants who aren’t always available 24/7.

The Shell 10 is a secure tablet enclosure built to withstand heavy use in high-traffic public spaces. The Shell range was designed to comply with a very tight brief from a company that needed a highly secure counter mounted tablet enclosure for a very busy restaurant chain. It is ideal for any business that wants to secure tablets in situations where the initiative could be prone to theft or abuse.
